So I have been away for a while…not physically but mentally. Life has thrown me quite a few challenges these past few months. I have recited all the mantras and cliches to snap out of it. It’s funny how you realize suddenly wow this is life and it is really tough right now and there is nothing that I can do to change where I am at this very moment. Sounds hopeless? Well not entirely, we can keep the faith and keep trudging along because ultimately if we stick to it, it will happen.
Daily life can take a toll on us, we sometimes begin to feel beat down, and cry “it’s not fair!” But this is life. In these moments of frustration, sadness or just simple impatience we need to envision what it will be like once we have obtained the IT that we are waiting for.
I’m sure many of you have said “once I get this, I will be happy and not want anything else.” Sound familiar? I am guilty of this, but what happens is we secure our next big thing and then we forget what it felt like before we had it. We then move on to our ever changing desires and before we know it, we want something else.
Being present and being grateful for where we are and what we have now is an extremely valuable tool. No matter how bad life seems to be now, we all have blessings that we continuously take for granted. Things we don’t even think about, things others are wishing for right now. So…be present and be grateful because life is too short to keep focusing on what you don’t have. And yes I will be taking my own advice!
